The Diary of Yijin, the famous K-pop baby

Annyeong!  My name is Yoo Yijin.  I’m two and a half years old, I live in Icheon City, and I’m going to be on TV!

Why?  I don’t know.  My appa says I’m a trending influencer.  I don’t know what that means.  I hope it means I get to have snacks.  I love snacks.  And I get to bring my favorite stuffed lion, so I’ll probably like trending a whole lot!

There’s always a camera following me around.  I get pictures taken all the time.  I guess I’m used to it, but I don’t see cameras following other kids around, so I’m kind of confused.

Anyway, this company called Creative Extraordinary says I’m going to be on a TV show on YouTube.  It’s called Call Me Baby, and I’m going to be meeting these people called K-pop idols.  I don’t know what that is, but I get to play a lot and have snacks, so yay!

Episode 1
I was playing in a big room with a lot of toys, and then this lady said it was time to see Uncle.  I can’t say uncle yet – I say akoo.  The lady thought it was cute.  Then I met two idols from a group called NCT 127.  I can’t count that high, so I don’t know what that means.  But they were nice.  They brought me a present.  It was a dinosaur.  I said thank you, but it came out “ba ba boo ya.”  They kept trying to make me say NCT.  I didn’t understand what was going on, but I like dinosaurs, so it was fun.

Episode 2
We went to a different playroom today.  I tried to ask what happened to the first playroom, but I still don’t speak very well, so they just repeated what I said and laughed.  The doorbell rang, so I thought the NCT people were back, but instead it was two women.  They kept trying to make me say NMIXX.  I was very confused.

Episode 3
Do all the other babies go to a different playroom every day?  This one is bigger than my house.  The doorbell rang again, and the new guy is named Seventeen.  That’s a funny name for a person, but that’s what he kept trying to get me to say.  I still can’t count that high yet.  But we jumped on a trampoline and went fishing in a giant sink, so it was fun.  Is it normal to have total strangers come into your house every day?  I can’t wait to learn how to talk so I can ask someone that.

Episode ?
I don’t know what episode this is anymore. We went to another playroom, and this one had real animals in it.  The grownups called it a Zoorarium.  The doorbell rang again. Two guys called VeriVery came in.  That’s a funny name.  We keep doing this every single day, so I guess this is my life now.

Another Episode
I did not want to do this again today because everyone told me I was going to meet a monster.  I don’t like monsters.  This time, the grownups made me wear fatigues and put me in a military room, so I thought, okay, I guess I’m going to die today.  I had a good run.  But thankfully the monsters were just two guys from a group called Monsta X.   They kept trying to make me say their names, and I thought maybe I was supposed to keep saying my name instead, so I did, but that didn’t seem like the right answer.  One of them brought me a present.  It was a hat from a place called Viet Nam.  He was really nice, for a monster.

Another Episode
Another playroom.  I think this one was a kitchen.  Another visitor kept trying to make me say their name.  An intern said he was worried I might get a short attention span and narcissistic personality disorder from doing this show.  I wanted to ask him what that meant, but then the other grownups fired him.

Another Episode
Today we’re at a strawberry farm.  Shouldn’t I be going to school?  Don’t other kids go to school?  Are there other kids?  Am I the only child in South Korea?  I’m so confused.

Yesterday’s Episode
I think this is Episode One Million, but appa says it’s only Episode Nineteen.  Two more idols visited me and tried to get me to say their names.   I tried to ask them if they knew what Groundhog Day Syndrome is, but again, I can only make baby sounds.

Appa says that when I’m a grownup, I will be a K-pop idol.  I think that means my job will be to visit playrooms all day and talk to little kids.  Is that an actual job?  People will pay me to do that?  Everything is so weird. Anyway, I have to stop my journal and go to bed now.  Tomorrow I’m going to a birthday party for a dragon.  At first I was scared, but then the grownups showed me a picture of the dragon:

I tried to tell them that’s not a dragon.  It’s just a person whose mommy forgot to brush his hair.  But I still can’t talk well, so I guess I’m just going to see if I can get someone to gift-wrap a hairbrush I can bring as a present.  Good night!
